I wanted to see if any Yellow Warblers had shown up yet, but I was busy in the morning, so I did an early afternoon hike. I didn't see or hear any Yellow Warblers, but had two Common Yellowthroats, two Yellow-rumped Warblers, and heard one Pine Warbler.

With warm weather and Sunday tourists, I knew that the Blue Ridge Parkway would be busy, so I birded only along Route 610 between mm. 2 and mm. 4 of the parkway. I logged all seven of the warbler species that breed along that stretch, and they were in their usual locations. I got photos of five of these species. I heard and got a quick look at a Worm-eating Warbler, and heard a Black and White Warbler.

I also saw my first of season Scarlet Tanager. It was a male that still had some of its non-breeding yellow plumage.
