It was another beautiful morning to be out birding here in Old Trail. I got a late start, and had to skip some of my usual birding trails, but I still ended up with 30 avian species, including 3 species that I had missed yesterday when I saw 32 avian species. Soon after starting my hike, I was making the turn above the golf course pond along fairway #1 when a juvenile Cooper's Hawk flew right in front of me and hid in the deep vegetation about 10 feet away. All of the little birds became quiet so as to not become its breakfast. Although I couldn't see the hawk once it landed, I stayed there for about 10 minutes. It finally flew away without a meal.

I ended the hike along Slabtown Branch Creek. One of the Red-shouldered hawks flew in and sharpened its beak on a tree branch.
