There was dense fog in Crozet this morning. By 9:00 a.m. the fog was starting to lift, so I went over to the Lickinghole Creek and Reservoir. The entire trail was wet, ranging from damp ground to fairly muddy in some locations. With temperatures close to 80 and no wind, it was like hiking in a steam bath, and my glasses kept fogging up. There weren't a lot of birds, but I did manage to log 23 avian species there. Highlights included a pair of Great Egrets, 5 Blue-winged Teals, and a Red-breasted Nuthatch. The only warbler I saw there was a Common Yellowthroat.

I made a short stop at the nearby Beaver Creek Reservoir, where a Red-shouldered Hawk was circling above.

I finished with a short hike here in Old Trail, where I added two more species: Eastern Phoebe and Mourning Dove, and got my second Red-shouldered Hawk of the day.
