It was a beautiful day to be out birding. Walt Childs and I headed over to Reddish Knob in the Allegheny Mountains. On the road to the summit, we saw 32 avian species. Many of them were common woodland birds, but the list included four warblers: Blackburnian, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, and Chestnut-sided, and four vireos: Red-eyed, Yellow-throated, Blue-headed, and Warbling. The bright sunlight and dense tree cover resulted in some deep shadows, making identification and photography a challenge at times.
