I arrived at the trail a few minutes before 9:00 a.m., and in a little less than two hours, I had logged 31 avian species. Although I have yet to see a large or mixed flock of warblers on the trail since last autumn, I did see three warbler species this morning that are usual summer residents.
After a night of near freezing temperatures, the birds were out singing away and enjoying the morning sunshine. Other morning highlights included a first of year Least Flycatcher, White-eyed and Red-eyed Vireos, and first summer male and adult male Orchard Orioles.
