Stoney Creek 10/15/12

I had time to take a short, late afternoon hike here in Stoney Creek. There was a small flock of Golden-crowned and Ruby-crowned Kinglets at the end of the street in addition to about a dozen of the usual species that I saw on the hike.

While I was getting ready to leave for my fourth try to locate the Clay-colored Sparrow in the Old Trail area in Crozet, I saw a number of species in my yard here in Stoney Creek.

Walt Childs and I spent more than three hours looking for the Clay-colored Sparrow at Old Trail. Although we did see seven sparrow species, the Clay-colored remained elusive for us and other birders looking for it this morning.
