I had a morning meeting to attend, and then headed over just before noon to a couple of places in Crozet to search for two target birds - a Clay-colored Sparrow that had been reported near the Old Trail golf course pond, and the Marsh Wren that I could not locate last week in the reeds by Lickinghole Creek reservoir.
I stopped first at the Old Trail pond, but only saw a Yellow Warbler, a few American Goldfinches, and some water birds: Ring-necked and Ruddy Ducks, and an American Coot. I stopped there again after Lickinghole Creek, but only added Song and Field Sparrows, a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, and a Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

I didn't see my target bird at Lickinghole Creek trail and reservoir either, but in addition to seeing some of the ususal birds there, both of the nesting Bald Eagles flew out of their nest and put on a show for me.
