Juvenile Red-shouldered Hawks have been visiting my back yard.

I assume that they are the hawks that had fledged from the nest in our yard.

It was hot, muggy, and buggy this morning, and with a forecast of scattered thunderstorms for this afternoon, I decided to stay close to home, and went over to the trail. The vegetation on the east side of Reids Creek that was clear cut last autumn and winter has grown back quite a bit, and birds were taking advantage of it. In a little less than 2 hours, I logged 32 species on the downstream and Glenthorne Loop trails, and then added a juvenile Downy Woodpecker on the upstream trail. Highlights included three warbler species and a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. There were a number of immature birds that were in the process of getting their adult plumages.

On the downstream trail near its eastern end, there was a Louisiana Waterthrush foraging on the trail path in a shadowed area, and a Yellow Warbler and at least three American Redstarts were at the southern end of the Glenthorne Loop trail on the east side of Reids Creek. The Yellow-billed Cuckoo was nearby.
