Green-winged Teal
The weather was perfect - the birding wasn't so great today. I drove up to a few usually good birding locations in the Shenandoah Valley near Harrisonburg, VA. At Leonard's Pond I only saw three Green-winged Teal, a small flock of Killdeer, and a few Canada Geese. There were lots of Starlings everywhere I drove. At Lake Shenandoah, all I saw were three Mallards, more Starlings, and a few Cardinals. Only saw Canada Geese at Lake Campbell.

On the way home, I stopped at the Great Blue Heron Rookery off of Sangers Lane near Staunton, VA. This was more successful, as I saw 16 herons and 12 nests.

Back in Stoney Creek, there are still Pine Warblers in the small pine forest at the end of my street, and nine Ring-necked Ducks were in Sawmill Creek pond #6. Curiously, I have been seeing Ring-necked Ducks here every day for about a week now, and there have always been two females for each male: one male plus two females; two males plus four females; or three males plus six females.
