Although I only logged 24 species on the trail this morning, it was an exceptional wildlife photo day - bright sunshine, only a little wind, and the birds were enjoying the nice weather. I thought that it might be a great day on the trail, as there were a pair of Downy Woodpeckers on a tree next to my car as soon as I arrived at 9:00. But the number of birds was not great.

Except for a nice sized flock of Cedar Waxwings at the southern end of the Glenthorne Loop trail, and occasional small flocks of sparrows/juncos, there were only a few birds every once in a while, with some long stretches of my two to three mile hike where I did not see much. After one hour I had 23 species, and did not add a new species during the next 30 minutes.
