Rain moving up the east coast from Florida combined with a front moving in from the west has made for a few rainy days, and only limited weather for birding. It rained all day on the 12th, and was drizzling most of the day yesterday and this morning.
Highlights include my seeing five of the seven local woodpeckers here in Stoney Creek yesterday: Pileated, Hairy, Red-bellied, Flicker, and my FOS Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. I added a Downy Woodpecker today, leaving only an elusive Red-headed to complete the local woodpecker series. I saw Belted Kingfishers and Yellow-rumped Warblers both here in Stoney Creek and on the Rockfish Valley Trail, a Palm Warbler on the trail, and the pair of Tennessee Warblers are still foraging in the brush at the entance to the Allen Creek Nature Preserve.
