Rockfish Valley Trail 7/16/10

Got to the Rockfish Valley Trail this morning at 8:30, but by 9:00 the combination of heat and humidity was so uncomfortable that I did not stay very long. Also, a crew was mowing on the SE side of Reids Creek along the Glenthorne Loop trail, so I don't know what affect that might have on the 3 species of warbler that I have seen there the past week. Nevertheless, it wasn't too bad of a hike. I spent a few minutes at Yellow Bird Thicket, and saw 6 species in the thicket:

Indigo Bunting
Brown Thrasher
Field Sparrow
Red-eyed Vireo
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
Cardinal

On the rest of the hike I logged the following species bringing this morning's count to 24:

Rock Pigeon
Red-winged Blackbird
Eastern Phoebe
American Goldfinch
Northern Bobwhite
Eastern Meadowlark
Song Sparrow
Chipping Sparrow
Cowbird
Orchard Oriole
Bluebird
Barn Swallow
Eastern Towhee
Turkey Vulture
Black Vulture
American Crow
Mourning Dove
Cedar Waxwing

Eastern Towhee juvenile

Red-eyed Vireo
